FAQS

Are you registered with the National Groodle Association?

Yes, we are registered breeders with the National Groodle Association ( NGA) and breed to the Groodle Breed Standards.

As of 2025, we are now on the elected committee for the National Groodle Association.

How big do your Groodles grow?

We breed medium and standard sized Groodles.

Our standard sized Groodles grow up to 68cm tall and 50kgs.

What is a Bernedoodle?

A Bernedoodle is a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. We're pretty proud to say that our Bernedoodles are bred from parents who we personally imported to Australia.

How big do your standard sized Bernedoodles grow?

Bernedoodles and Groodles Australia specialise in standard sized Bernedoodles. The Bernedoodle usually stands at about 58-74cm tall and can weigh between 28 - 50kgs

We only breed True Bernedoodles and are currently only breeding with imported dogs so that our breeding lines are strong and our Bernedoodle puppies are the best.

What health testing is done for Groodles and Bernedoodles?

Since starting our breeding program over 10 years ago, we have been DNA testing and Hip and Elbow scoring all of our breeding dogs.

What is Pennhip?

PennHIP® scoring is the most accurate hip screening method available and identifies dogs that are susceptible to hip dysplasia from 4 months of age.

What is 'Guardianship'?

Guardianship is where a family is carefully selected to care for one of our breeding dogs as their own pet until it reaches breeding age.

We occasionally have Groodle Puppies and Standard Sized Bernedoodle puppies available for Guardianship.

Once the puppy has grown and is ready for breeding, the Guardian dog then comes back to us for health testing and breeding.

The Guardian dog is then returned back to their Guardian family. Once the breeding contract has ended, the Guardian dog is then signed over to the family and is no longer part of the Bernedoodles and Groodles Australia breeding program.

How much grooming does a Groodle or Bernedoodle require?

Groodles and Bernedoodles require regular grooming to keep their coats healthy, tangle-free, and looking good. The level of grooming depends on coat type.

For curly coats we recommend brushing daily to avoid matting. Wavy coats are lower maintenance and only need brushing every 2-3 days.

Professional grooming should happen around every 6-8 weeks.
